As good as Pure Sensation has been through his seven-season career, the veteran turf sprinter has been especially effective on the Parx turf, where he has piled up six graded stakes wins. He'll try to add to that impressive record Sept. 2 in the $300,000 Turf Monster Stakes (G3T), a race he's won three times since 2015.

In July  the Patricia Generazio homebred won the Parx Dash Stakes for the third time when he drew off to win that about five-furlong turf test by 4 1/4 lengths. That easy win followed a narrow victory in the Pennsylvania Governor's Cup Stakes at Penn National Race Course for the 8-year-old Zensational gelding who has won at least one stakes in each of six consecutive seasons.

Trained by Christophe Clement, Pure Sensation enters Monday's five-furlong turf race off a third-place finish in the Troy Stakes (G3T) Aug. 3 at Saratoga Race Course. He'll start from Post 11 in the expected field of 12.

The field also includes Hollywood Talent, who after placing in six stakes on dirt without a stakes win from 2013-2018 finally broke through Aug. 3 when he scored a narrow victory in the Marshall Jenney Handicap sprinting on the Parx turf course.

The Turf Monster is one of two graded stakes on Monday's card that features a total of seven stakes races. The other graded event is the $300,000 Smarty Jones (G3) for 3-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles; the race serves as a local prep for the $1 million Pennsylvania Derby (G1) Sept. 21.

In Monday's tilt, the consistent Gray Magician will try to build on a season in which he's earned $681,710 for owners Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Gary Barber, and Wachtel Stable. The son of Graydar  has finished first or second in four of his past five starts with the one exception being an off-the-board finish in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1).

Trained by Peter Miller, Gray Magician enters the Smarty Jones off a hard-fought victory over grade 1 winner Knicks Go in the Ellis Park Derby presented by Kruckemeyer and Cohn Jewelry Aug. 11. Earlier this year Gray Magician finished second in the UAE Derby Sponsored by Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group (G2) in Dubai—earning $500,000.

The other stakes races on Monday's Parx card include four $100,000 stakes that are part of the Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred Championships series: the Neshaminy Stakes for 3-year-olds and older at 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf, the Bensalem Stakes for 3-year-olds and older sprinting six furlongs on the main track, the Roamin Rachel Stakes for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and older sprinting six furlongs, and the Salvatore M. DeBunda for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and older going 8.5 furlongs on the turf.

Aside from the graded stakes and MATCH races, the card also offers the $150,000 Cathryn Sophia Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at one mile and 70 yards on the dirt.
