CTHS reported the top price of $240,000 ($180,384) was paid by Frank Stronach for a bay filly (Hip 115) from the second crop of Silver Max that was bred and consigned by Stronach's Adena Springs North. Silver Max, who ranks third on Canada's leading first-crop sire list through Aug. 29, stands at Adena Springs North, where his 2019 fee was CA$3,000.
The filly is the second foal produced from the Holy Bull mare Holy Cargo, a half sister to Stronach's homebred Preakness Stakes (G1) winner and sire Red Bullet and stakes winner and sire Millennium Allstar.
The second-highest reported price and top price for a colt was the CA$200,000 (US$150,320) paid by Mike De Paulo, agent for New Generations Racing Stable, for a son of Society's Chairman consigned as Hip 122 by Shannondoe Farm, agent. The dark bay/brown colt bred by Robert Marzilli is the first foal out of Jademarie, a winning daughter of Malibu Moon who earned $122,334.
The colt's second dam is Jill Robin L, a grade 2-winning daughter of Precocity and a half sister to Canadian Horse of the Year Caren, who is also by Society's Chairman.
Shannondoe was leading consignor with 14 head grossing $485,500 ($364,901).
