Multiple grade 1 winner and expatriate stallion Tizway has been acquired by owner/breeder Nimet Arif Kurtel and will be relocated from South Korea to Turkey.

Tizway is the third Kentucky-bred stallion bought by Kurtel since June, when he acquired Bluegrass Cat  and Air Vice Marshal. The deal to buy Tizway was brokered by Sean Nix and Murat Sancal. International regulations prevent Tizway from being exported directly to Turkey, so the stallion will be shipped to Sancal Racing at Elmendorf Farm near Lexington and stay there until January, when the three stallions will then be shipped to Turkey.

The 14-year-old son of Tiznow  out of the Dayjur mare Bethany is the sire of this year's Gazi Derby (G1) winner, The Last Romance, and Mimar Sinan Stakes (G3) winner Arts Man

Kurtel initially raced The Last Romance, a Turkish-bred filly out of the Kingmambo mare Cumulus. The Last Romance was Turkey's champion 2-year-old filly of 2018. Melis Kurtel Emin now owns The Last Romance and raced her in the Gazi Derby, according to the Turkish Jockey Club. The Last Romance has won eight of 11 starts and earned 3,656,000 lira (US$620,441).

Tizway entered stud in Kentucky at Spendthrift Farm, where he stood for five seasons and was shuttled once to Australia in 2015. He was sent to South Korea in the summer of 2017 along with Archarcharch. Tizway bred 24 mares his first season in Korea.

Once in Turkey, Tizway will stand at Karacabey Stud, which also stands previous U.S. stallions Lion Heart and Victory Gallop, according to Sancal.

Bred by Whisper Hill Farm and raced by William Clifton Jr., Tizway won or placed in seven graded stakes, including victories in the 2011 Metropolitan Handicap (G1) and Whitney Invitational Handicap (G1). He retired with a 7-1-5 record from 20 starts and earned $1,359,274.

As a sire, Tizway has 19 black-type winners and three graded stakes winners—Backyard Heaven (Alysheba Stakes Presented by Sentient Jet, G2), Way to Versailles (Royal North Stakes, G2T), and Ezmosh (Arlington Classic Stakes, G3T). Because Turkey is a Part II country by International Cataloging Standards, the graded status of the Gazi Derby is recognized only in Turkey, not internationally.
