Who's the Diva Now, owned and trained by Kevin Eikleberry, became the first winner sired by Lotsa Mischief when she won her career debut in the $25,300 Las Vegas Ranch Stakes at Arizona Downs Sept. 1.
The bay filly was the longest shot on the board at 17-1 but led every step under jockey Logan Cormier. After setting opening fractions of :22.07 and :44.93, Who's the Diva Now drew off by three lengths over seven other Arizona-bred juveniles and completed five furlongs in :57.84 on a fast track.
She earned $14,876 in her first outing.
Who's the Diva Now was bred by the William Matthews Family Trust out of the Henny Hughes mare A Drop Dead Diva. The mare gave birth to a Tapizar filly Jan. 28 and was bred back to Frank Conversation .
Lotsa Mischief is an 8-year-old son of Into Mischief , the current leading sire who stands at Spendthrift Farm, the breeder of Lotsa Mischief. The horse was campaigned by Filippo Santoro, William Matthews, and Marvin Fleming and trained by Dan McFarlane, earning $135,270 while racing in Arizona and the Midwest. From 17 starts, Lotsa Mischief had a 5-1-3 record, which included a victory in the Turf Paradise Derby.
