Pollard's Vision Colt Tops Oklahoma Sale

Description:

A Pollard's Vision  yearling colt out of a full sister to multiple grade 1 winner Kip Deville was sold for $30,000 to top the Carter Sales Company's September Sale Sept. 1 at the Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.

Consigned by Mighty Acres, agent for Oklahoma breeder Center Hills Farm, the colt was purchased by Lee W. Young. The colt was produced from Kip Seville, a winning daughter of Kipling whose full brother Kip Deville earned $3.1 million. Also an Oklahoma-bred, Kip Deville's 12 wins included the Maker's Mark Mile (twice), the NetJets Breeders' Cup Mile, Frank E. Kilroe Mile, and Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap (all grade 1 turf races).

Consisting of yearlings and mixed bloodstock, the sale saw 36 of 50 horses offered sell for gross receipts of $358,100, an average price of $9,947 with a $5,700 median. Carter Sales reported 32 yearlings averaged $10,963 on total receipts of $350,800, with a 25.6% RNA rate as seven head went unsold.

During the 2018 auction, 54 horses grossed $384,400, an average of $7,199 and $4,800 median. The 32 horses that went unsold represented an RNA rate of 37.2%.

This year's second-highest price and top-priced filly was Hip 17, a gray or roan daughter of Graydar  purchased by John Burger, agent for Mark Hixson, for $27,000. Bred in Oklahoma by Amy Bayle and Daniel S. Mallory, the filly offered by Buena Madera was produced from the unraced Ghostzapper  mare Heavenly Ghost.

Heavenly Ghost is a half sister to grade 3 stakes winners Mr Freeze, Dilemma, and Heavenly Ransom, and to multiple stakes winner Capitano, and to the dam of Point of Honor, winner of this year's Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (G2) who most recently ran second in both the Coaching Club American Oaks and Alabama Stakes, both grade 1 races at Saratoga Race Course.
