Iowa All Age Thoroughbred Sale Set for Sept. 5

The Iowa Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association's Fall All Age Thoroughbred Sale will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, IA.

Scheduled for a 6 p.m. (all times CDT) start, the sale will include over 50 Thoroughbreds, which are primarily yearlings, by a number of well-known sires such as Alternation , Flat Out , Fort Larned , Girolamo, Midshipman , and Woke Up Dreamin.

All horses consigned to the sale may be viewed by prospective buyers Sept. 4 from 4-7 p.m. and on the afternoon of the sale starting at 1 p.m.

Consignors include Madison County Thoroughbreds, Bryant Thoroughbreds, Eagle Wings Farm (agent for Poindexter Thoroughbreds), Idlewood Farm, Kurt and Melanie Kindschuh, and Iowa State University.

Madison County Thoroughbreds has consigned six head to the sale: four sired by Woke Up Dreamin and two sired by Sing Baby Sing, both Kentucky-bred stallions who were graded stakes winners. Woke Up Dreamin is the sire of 2018 Terry E. Branstad Stakes hero One Fine Dream and 2019 winners Call The Shots, Dreamin The Dream, and Browdy Boy.

Hip 37, an unnamed yearling filly by Woke Up Dreamin—Speedy Gladys Jam, is a full sister to the multiple stakes winner Dreamin, who won eight races, including the 2016 Iowa Sorority and the 2017 Saylorville, and earned $334,845 between 2015 and 2018.

Hip 14, an unnamed Liaison  filly consigned by Eagle Wings Farm (agent for Poindexter Thoroughbreds), is a half sister to 2019 Iowa Stallion Stakes winner Kauai, who was bred by owner Allen Poindexter. Through the 2019 breeding season, the filly's dam Gizzy has foaled six winners from six runners including 2017 Iowa stallion Filly Stakes winner Honolulu, and 2018 Iowa Breeders' Oaks runner-up Glitzy Lady.
