Khaadem wins the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood

Khaadem, impressive winner of the Unibet Stewards' Cup at Goodwood last time, is the new favorite for the Sept. 7 Betfair Sprint Cup Stakes at Haydock after Advertise and Ten Sovereigns were ruled out of the group 1 race.

Advertise, owned by Phoenix Thoroughbreds, was a general 11-4 favorite but has been withdrawn after returning a bad scope. Ten Sovereigns will not run due to testing conditions—the ground at Haydock Friday morning was soft.

"Advertise scoped slightly badly this morning but is perfectly fine other than that," said Phoenix Thoroughbreds' communications manager, Jamie Watson.

"If we had five days we'd be ready, but obviously the day before, there won't be enough time. He's got nothing to prove after winning two group 1s this season. We'll see how he is, then probably look at the Champion Sprint (G1) or the Prix de la Foret (G1) as a season finale.

"He's been a flag-bearer for us and will have a special place in our history. He's only been outside the top two once when down the field in the (QIPCO Two Thousand) Guineas (G1). He's been fantastic, and hopefully he'll be a great stallion. But before that, let's see if he can win another one."
