Freshman sire Micromanage had his first winner Sept. 6 when his son Dynaform won a Colonial Downs maiden claiming race in his second start for owners DARRS Inc. and trainer Michael Stidham.
Going a mile on the inner turf, the 2-year-old gelding raced near the back of the seven-horse field and closed through the stretch with jockey Horacio Karamanos to get a head in front at the wire. He finished in a final time of 1:39.48 on firm turf.
Bred by Sugar Maple Farm and H. Lewis Rapaport in New York, where Micromanage stands at Rockridge Stud, Dynaform is out of the Dynaformer mare Miss Blarney Stone.
Micromanage was campaigned by Repole Stable and trainer Todd Pletcher to a record of 7-4-6 from 30 starts, earning $790,551. The son of Medaglio d'Oro was grade 1-placed in the William Hill Haskell Invitational Stakes (G1) as a 3-year-old. At 4 he won the Skip Away Stakes (G3) and 1 3/4-mile Birdstone Stakes. He was retired the following year after being eased to finish last in the same stakes.
Bred in Kentucky by Fiona Craig & Dermot Cantillon, Micromanage is out of Catnip, a half sister to Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Editor's Note and European champion Hold That Tiger. Catnip is from the immediate family of Hennessy, grade 1 winner Pearl City, and champion Family Style.
He stood 2019 for a fee of $4,000.
