Stonestreet Stables went to $950,000 Sept. 9 to secure Hip 114, a Medaglia d'Oro  filly out of a full sister to grade 1 winner Taris at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

The bay filly bred in Kentucky by Doug and Felicia Branham is the second foal out of the stakes-winning Flatter  mare Stoweshoe. She was consigned by Eaton Sales.

Stonestreet also purchased the yearling's second dam, the Theatrical mare Comedy, for $1.5 million from Select Sales' consignment to the 2015 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.

"Beautiful balance. A very sturdy-looking Medaglia d'Oro filly," Stonestreet's Barbara Banke said. "You know I like those. She has great breeding and we own the mare Comedy. We've had some excellent, excellent babies by her."

Stoweshoe's 2017 Curlin  colt sold to Goldolphin for $1.3 million at the Keeneland September sale last year and was also consigned by Eaton Sales. That 2-year-old is now named Desert Peace and has yet to race.

"That was a very nice horse," Banke said. "(Hip 114) could be a bargain."

Stoweshoe's sister Taris is best remembered for winning the Humana Distaff Stakes (G1) on her way to collecting over $1 million on the track. Taris won four other graded stakes and finished third in the TwinSpires Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1).

Stoweshoe is also a half sister to Theatre Star, a stakes winner by War Front  who is also multiple grade 3-placed.
