Lady's Golden Guy became the first winner for freshman sire Golden Ticket when he rallied to a debut victory Sept. 10 at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack.
Jockey Nazario Alvarado was aboard the bay gelding for the six-furlong, $26,445 maiden special weight. Lady's Golden Guy rallied from eighth to finish 2 1/4 lengths in front as the 7-5 favorite. The final time was 1:13.12 on a fast track.
Lady's Golden Guy was bred in New York by Ronald Breed and is owned and trained by Debra Breed. He is out of the winning Value Plus mare Valuable Lady. His score Tuesday gave him $15,900 in earnings to start his career.
Golden Ticket entered stud at Questroyal North in Stillwater, N.Y., in 2016 and stood for $6,000 in 2019. The son of Speightstown —Business Plan, by Deputy Minister, was an upset dead-heat winner of the 2012 Travers Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course, where he hit the wire at 33-1 along with the favorite, Alpha .
Golden Ticket won two other black-type stakes and placed in eight graded stakes, including a runner-up finish in the 2013 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1). The stallion was bred in Kentucky by WinStar Farm and sold to Carter Stewart for $100,000 when consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, agent, at the 2011 Keeneland April 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale. He was trained by Kenny McPeek for Magic City Thoroughbred Partners throughout his racing career and was retired in 2015 with a 6-8-4 record from 33 starts and earnings of $1,362,924.
