Description:

Ken and Sarah Ramsey's homebred Kitten Kaboodle took the rail trip to victory in the $150,000 JPMorgan Chase Jessamine Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Keeneland Oct. 9, earning a berth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (gr. IT) at Santa Anita Park .

The 2-year-old daughter of Kitten's Joy   broke her maiden in the turf event, finding an inside opening when tiring frontrunner Zip On moved out coming off the far turn. She got through to increase her advantage to 4 3/4 lengths on the line, running 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.01 on a firm turf course under jockey Alan Garcia.

Off at odds of 7-2, Kitten Kaboodle came into the Jessamine with runner-up efforts for trainer Wayne Catalano in two maiden special weight races at Saratoga Race Course. The Jessamine was her first start for Brown.

Kitten Kaboodle was a forwardly placed third off the early pace set by Zip On, who broke well and sailed away in the field of 10 to set opening fractions of :23.15 and :46.98 uncontested with a 2 1/2-length lead. After three-quarters went in 1:12.54, the eventual winner was able to improve her position with a solid rail drive. Zinzay, favored at 2-1, continued on well for the place in spite of getting carried out by the drifting Zip On, but could not match the inside advantage of Kitten Kaboodle. Courtesan was a half-length farther back in third.

Kitten Kaboodle returned $9.40, $5, and $3. Zinzay paid $3.60 and $2.80. Courtesan paid $3.60. Candy Kitty, Runway Giant, Zip On, Academic Probation, Shanon Nicole, Pretty Fancy, and Richies Party Girl completed the order of finish.

Kitten Kaboodle was bred in Kentucky out of the Grand Slam mare Easy Slam, and now has her win and two seconds for earnings of $124,000.
