Bruno Schickedanz's homebred Elite Song scored a 6 3/4-length maiden win on debut Sept. 11 at Woodbine to become the first winner for freshman sire Katz My Song.
The 2-year-old filly trained by Norman McKnight went to the lead early and led through fractions of :22.32 and :45.46 for the first half-mile, where she commanded by a length.
Heading into the stretch of the 5 1/2-furlong maiden claiming race, Elite Song continued to increase her advantage to the wire. She completed the distance in a final time of 1:04.10 over the fast all-weather track.
The filly is the second foal out of the Defrere mare Debere, who raced from age 3 to 11. Both foals of racing age are winners.
A son of Unbridled's Song bred in Kentucky by Overbrook Farm, Katz My Song is out of the grade 2-winning Storm Cat mare Katz Me If You Can and is a half brother to last year's Xpressbet Florida Derby (G1) third, Mississippi. His second dam is grade 1 winner Cuddles, by Mr. Prospector.
Katz My Song was a winner of seven starts and earned $157,264 on the track. He stands at Champagne Farm in Florida for a private fee.
