Michael Wrona will serve as track announcer for the inaugural commercial race meet at Grants Pass Downs in Oregon, beginning Sunday, Sept. 22.
A track press release notes that Wrona's long and illustrious resume adds instant clout to the meet as the epicenter of Oregon racing shifts to Grants Pass following the recent closure of Portland Meadows. In March, Grants Pass Downs' parent organization, TMB Racing, acquired the licenses to host and operate commercial racing via the Oregon Racing Commission, and last month it struck a 50-year lease agreement with Josephine County for use of Grants Pass Downs.
Racing is scheduled for Sundays and Mondays through Nov. 4, and the fall meet will host 14 dates in all.
