Separationofpowers wins the Bed o' Roses Invitational Stakes at Belmont Park

Separationofpowers, a grade 1 winner at ages 2 and 3, will be offered by ELiTE Sales Nov. 4 at The November Sale, Fasig-Tipton's breeding stock sale.

The 4-year-old daughter of Candy Ride  has been campaigned throughout her career by Seth Klarman's Klaravich Stables and trained by Chad Brown. Included among her four wins from 10 starts are the 2017 Frizette Stakes (G1) and 2018 Longines Test Stakes (G1).

"The Frizette and Test are the premier races for 2-year-old and 3-year-old fillies going one turn in New York. To win both puts her in a rare group, becoming just the fifth horse to do so, joining champions Indian Blessing and Numbered Account along with elite fillies Society Selection and You," said ELiTE Sales' Bradley Weisbord.

Debuting at Saratoga Race Course in July 2017, she posted an 11 3/4-length victory over seven 2-year-old fillies. Both of her two top-level races have come at New York Racing Association tracks. She ran away with the Frizette at Belmont Park, beating eventual champion Caledonia Road by 3 1/2 lengths. She returned one year later to win a memorable edition of the Test, staging a stretch duel with grade 1 winner Mia Mischief, before ultimately prevailing in the Saratoga staple.

Separationofpowers returned to the winner's circle at 4 this year, going gate-to-wire in the Bed O' Roses (G3) at Belmont Park, earning a career high Beyer Speed Figure of 100, while handily defeating three stakes winners.

Bred in Kentucky by Northwest Farms, Separationofpowers is out of the Empire Maker  mare Shehadmefromhello, and is a half sister to stakes winner Empire of War.

"Separationofpowers' debut victory at Saratoga was the most impressive performance of any first-time starter I have ever trained," Brown said. "She is a brilliantly fast horse with a ton of class and natural ability."
