Raelee wins her debut by 7 lengths at Golden Gate Fields

Alpha Bettor, a multiple graded stakes-winning son of Alphabet Soup, had his first winner Sept. 26 when Raelee won on debut at Golden Gate Fields. The California-based sire has only five named foals in his first crop.

Juan Heredia's Raelee, a 2-year-old filly in training with Victor Trujillo, overcame a field of eight others in a five-furlong maiden claiming test, running off to a seven-length score. Coming from off the pace, the filly was outrun early on, as Tingsthatmakesense led through opening fractions of :22.44 and :47.06.

Raelee was taken wide on the turn by jockey Irving Orozco and pulled clear in the stretch. The final time over the all-weather track was :59.25.

Bred in California by Andrew Stronach, Raelee is the first foal out of the Editor's Note mare Portena.

Campaigned primarily in Canada by Bulldog Racing and trainer Daniel Vella, Alpha Bettor raced from age 2 to 8. In 2012, he won the Seagram Cup Stakes (G3), and in 2013 he won the Eclipse Stakes (G2), the Seagram Cup again, and the Autumn Stakes (G2). He raced three times in the U.S., winning the 2016 Portland Mile Handicap at Portland Meadows for Pan Am Racing Stable and trainer Jose Corrales.

Bred in Kentucky by Adena Springs, Alpha Bettor was the top earner for his dam, Scatter Buy, who also produced multiple stakes winner Amazing Buy and two other winners from just six named foals.

Alpha Bettor retired with a record of 12-5-3 from 40 starts and $838,275 in earnings.
