Little Red Feather Racing's Mirth made every pole a winning one Sept. 28 and earned her first stakes victory in the $300,000 Rodeo Drive Stakes (G1T) at Santa Anita Park.
Piloted by Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith, Mirth broke on top in the six-horse field, set the pace, and refused to yield to any challenge. The daughter of Colonel John completed the 1 1/4-mile test well clear of her competition in a final time of 1:58.47.
Favored Beau Recall finished second, followed by Elysea's World in third.
The victory in the "Win and You're In" Breeders' Cup Challenge Series race earned Mirth a berth in the Maker's Mark Filly and Mare Turf (G1T) Nov. 2 at Santa Anita.
Trained by Phil D'Amato, Mirth was bred in Pennsylvania by Barlar out of the French Deputy mare Di's Delight.
