Grace and Peace breaks her maiden at Parx Racing

Stony Brook Stables' Grace and Peace became the first winner for Xanthus Farms stallion Xixixi Sept. 29 when she took a 5 1/2-furlong maiden claiming race at Parx Racing

Making her second start for trainer Edward Coletti Jr., Grace and Peace broke first from the gate under jockey Felix Pinero. The 2-year-old bay vied for the lead on the outside with She'smysunshine through the stretch before coming under urging from Pinero. Grace and Peace drew away under steady handling to win by 1 3/4 lengths. The final time was 1:07.52 over a track rated fast.

Bred in Pennsylvania by Maria Haire, Grace and Peace is the first foal out of the stakes-placed Corinthian mare Awesome Dama. She was purchased for $5,000 by Stony Brook Stables from the consignment of Summerfield to the 2018 Ocala Breeders' Sales Winter Mixed Sale.

A son of Maimonides , Xixixi was bred in Florida by Zayat Stables. Campaigned for the majority of his 17 starts by Zayat Stables and trainer Rudy Rodriguez, Xixixi eventually transferred to the barn of Charles DeMario and ran his final four races for owner Kirk Sheehan. He retired in 2015 with earnings of $83,299.

Though his racing record is modest, it's Xixixi's pedigree that is most attractive to breeders. He is the first foal out of the Yankee Gentleman mare Littleprincessemma, better known as the dam of Triple Crown winner American Pharoah . Among Xixixi's other noteworthy half siblings are grade 1 winner Chasing Yesterday and grade/group-placed runners American Cleopatra and St Patrick's Day

Xixixi entered stud in 2016 at Xanthus Farms in Pennsylvania. He stood for a fee of $5,000 in 2019.
