Jockey Adam Beschizza, unseated late in the fifth race Oct. 9 at Keeneland when his mount, Triggerman, was fatally injured, broke his collarbone and will be away from riding for three weeks, according to his agent, Liz Morris.

Following the race, a one-mile maiden contest on the grass, the jockey sat on the turf for a short period before receiving attention from medical staff. He then went to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital for evaluation, the track said in a news release.

Triggerman, a 3-year-old Cairo Prince  colt trained by Joe Sharp and owned by Brad Grady, sustained a catastrophic injury to his left front limb, Keeneland posted on its website. He had raced once previously, finishing ninth in his debut Sept. 13 at Churchill Downs.

No other horses were involved in the incident, which occurred with only a few runners in his proximity.

It was the third fatality of the Keeneland fall meet after two horses sustained catastrophic injuries on opening day, Oct. 4.
