Mill Ridge Farm will hold the stud fee for its multiple grade 1-winning turf star Oscar Performance at $20,000 for 2020, with a live foal stands and nurses guarantee. The farm is also offering a $15,000 fee for multiple mares.
A son of 2018's overall leading North American sire and leading turf sire, Kitten's Joy , Oscar Performance was bred and raced by Jerry and John Amerman. He won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T) at 2, the Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes (G1T) and Secretariat Stakes (G1T) at 3, and the Ricoh Woodbine Mile Stakes (G1T) at 4. He broke a 20-year-old Belmont Park track record in the 2018 Poker Stakes (G3T), getting the mile on the outer turf course in 1:31.23.
"He is a bona fide racehorse with an extraordinary pedigree blend, an exceptional physical, and a record at a mile—undoubtedly the best American turf horse of his generation," said Headley Bell of Mill Ridge. "We believe he's one to be excited about. This year's leading Kentucky Derby contenders were by sires that excelled on turf, and 41% of our graded stakes are being run on turf. A truly successful sire will be competitive whether grass or dirt, and buyers are looking for that horse."
Oscar Performance bred 118 mares this year, getting 90% in foal.
