Myers Tiger breaks her maiden at Indiana Grand

Myers Tiger became the first winner for freshman sire Pataky Kid  when she soared clear of eight rivals by as many lengths Oct. 15 in a $34,000 maiden special weight for state-bred fillies at Indiana Grand Race Course.

The 2-year-old daughter of the Indiana stallion stalked the early pace set by fellow Pataky Kid daughter Help Me Out, who posted a quarter in :22.54 and three-eighths in :46.82 before yielding in the 5 1/2-furlong dirt test. Myers Tiger bid at the three-eighths pole after stalking in the five path, dueled briefly for the lead, and drew off under mild urging from jockey Jack Gilligan.

Trained by Bernie Flint for owners Dana Myers and Tiffany Jackson, Myers Tiger completed the distance in 1:06.48 on a fast track.

Myers Tiger was bred by Dana Myers out of the winning Hold That Tiger mare Merom. Making her first start a winning one, she collected $20,400.

Swifty Farms, the Indiana operation owned by the late Don and Dana Myers, bought Pataky Kid for $95,000 from Tony Bowling's All in Sales at the 2012 Fasig-Tipton Florida 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale and raced him to a 4-2-4 record from 22 starts, including a 2012 Arlington-Washington Futurity (G3) win at Arlington International Racecourse. He was pinhooked by All in Sales for $62,000 at the 2011 Keeneland September Yearling Sale when consigned by Select Sales on breeder H. Allen Poindexter's behalf.
