Into Mischief Heads Spendthrift Lineup for 2020 Season

Into Mischief at Spendthrift Farm
Spendthrift Farm announced stud fees Oct. 15 for most of its 24 stallions for the 2020 breeding season, anchored by Into Mischief , the leading sire in North America, who is already booked full at a fee of $175,000.
Spendthrift has five new stallions for 2020, four of which are being pointed to the Breeders' Cup next month at Santa Anita Park. Among those are Longines Classic (G1) contender Vino Rosso , Sprint (G1) contender Mitole, Big Ass Fans Dirt Mile (G1) threat Coal Front, and Omaha Beach, who could compete in the Classic, Sprint or Dirt Mile. Stud fees for all four horses will be determined upon retirement.
Goldencents , North America's No. 1 second-crop sire in 2019, will also have his 2020 fee determined and announced after the Breeders' Cup, where his first-crop 3-year-old colt Mr. Money will compete in the Dirt Mile. Tied for third among all stallions with 29 2-year-old winners from his first crop a year ago, Goldencents is the sire of 18 juvenile winners to date in 2019, again ranking him among the top five in North America. He ranks fourth by dirt earnings from his first crop of 3-year-olds, trailing only Into Mischief, Tapit , and Curlin .
Perennial leading sire Malibu Moon will stand for $60,000 in 2020 after a year in 2019 that included siring two new grade 1 winners. This makes him one of only three stallions in North America with two or more grade 1 winners sired in each of the last four years, Spendthrift said. Malibu Moon is led by Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1) contender Come Dancing, a four-time graded winner in 2019, including the Ketel One Ballerina Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course.
