Coolmore has secured the breeding rights to grade 1 winner and top TVG Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) contender Eight Rings with plans to stand the colt at Coolmore America's Ashford Stud following his retirement.
Owned and raced by SF Racing, Starlight Racing, Madaket Stables, Frederick Hertrich III, John D. Fielding and Golconda Stables, Eight Rings was acquired for $520,000 at the 2018 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. The colt, bred by WinStar Farm, is a son of prominent sire Empire Maker out of graded stakes winner Purely Hot (by Pure Prize).
Eight Rings broke his maiden at first asking by 6 1/4 lengths and most recently won the American Pharoah Stakes (G1) by six lengths, which puts him in a position to vie for favoritism in the Nov. 1 Juvenile at Santa Anita Park.
"We are excited that Eight Rings will have the opportunity to stand at Coolmore following retirement," said Tom Ryan of SF Racing. "As a member of the first racing stable of our co-ownership group, we are particularly proud of Eight Rings and it is important to all of us that he be given the best possible chance at stud.
"We have the utmost respect for Coolmore and their ability to support world class stallion prospects, which we hope and expect Eight Rings to be," Ryan continued.
"Eight Rings was awesome in the American Pharoah Stakes and looks to be a colt with a huge future," said Ashford manager Dermot Ryan. "We're delighted he's going to end up in Ashford."
