Before the Breeders' Cup stakes races begin on the Nov. 2 card at Santa Anita Park, the track will serve up a trio of stakes races.

In Saturday's first race on the card, filly and mare turf sprinters will contest the $100,000 Senator Ken Maddy Stakes (G3T) at 5 1/2 furlongs. It will be followed by the $100,000 Damascus Stakes for 3-year-olds and older sprinting seven furlongs on the main track, and then the Qatar Twilight Derby (G2T) for 3-year-olds going 1 1/8 miles on turf.

In the Senator Ken Maddy, multiple stakes winner Girls Know Best will try to secure the first graded stakes score of her career when she breaks from Post 8 in the expected field of nine. Racing for Triton Stable, Brian Chenvert, and her trainer Eddie Kenneally, the speedy 5-year-old daughter of Caleb's Posse  enters off a third-place finish in the Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes (G3T) Oct. 11 at Keeneland, where she led into the stretch of that 5 1/2-furlong turf sprint before yielding to winner Oleksandra and runner-up Morticia.

Jose Ortiz, who guided Girls Know Best to a victory in the Abundantia Stakes in December at Gulfstream Park, will ride.

The Damascus marks the racing return for this year's Santa Anita Derby (G1) winner Roadster, a son of Quality Road  who has not competed since finishing second in the Affirmed Stakes (G3) June 16 at Santa Anita. Trained by Bob Baffert, Speedway Stable's Roadster followed his Santa Anita Derby win with a 15th-place finish in the Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve (G1). Saturday will be his first start against older horses.

The morning-line favorite for the Damascus is Lane's End Racing and Hronis Racing's Flagstaff, who enters off a third-place finish in the Santa Anita Sprint Championship Stakes (G1), which was the first stakes start for the 5-year-old son of Speightstown . John Sadler trains Flagstaff and Victor Espinoza will ride.

The morning-line favorite among the 13 entered in the Twilight Derby is Jerry Moss's Nolde, who has won three of his past four starts including a neck victory in his most recent start, the Del Mar Derby (G2T) Sept. 1. That effort was the first graded stakes start for the son of Pioneerof the Nile .

Trained by John Shirreffs, Nolde has worked four times in October including a handy five-furlong move in 1:02 1/5 Oct. 25. Espinoza will ride.

The field also includes Neptune's Storm, who won the Hill Prince Stakes (G2T) Oct. 5 at Belmont Park, and speedy Kingly, who in August won the La Jolla Handicap (G3T) at Del Mar.
