Before the juveniles takes over "Future Stars Friday" at the Breeders' Cup World Championships Nov. 1 at Santa Anita Park, a field of six older horses will kick off Friday's 10-race card in the $200,000 Marathon Stakes presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (G2).

Heading up the 1 3/4-mile main track event is Woodford Racing's Campaign, a 4-year-old colt who has proven himself as a marathoner on both dirt and turf. Campaign has scored two long-distance graded events since moving to John Sadler's Southern California stable before the start of the season.

The son of Curlin  won over the track going 1 1/2 miles in the April 14 Tokyo City Cup Stakes (G3) and scored again at that distance, rallying in the July 24 Cougar II Handicap (G3) at Del Mar. He was third in his last outing—the Sept. 7 Calumet Farm Kentucky Turf Cup Stakes (G3T) at Kentucky Downs—and finished behind Longines Breeders' Cup Turf (G1T) contenders Zulu Alpha and Arklow.

Red Baron's Barn's multiple grade 2 winner Itsinthepost is looking for his first win since the May 2018 Charles Whittingham Stakes (G2T) at Santa Anita six starts back. Two races ago he was second beaten 1 1/4 lengths by Campaign in the Cougar II, which marked only his second dirt try in 40 starts.

Rounding out the field is Zestful, a $40,000 claim three starts back and winner of six straight races topped by the Los Alamitos Special Stakes last out; American Tattoo, a group 1 winner in his native Argentina; Brave Nation, winner of the BC Premier Handicap (G3) last out; and Street to Indy, coming off two claiming victories in California.
