Mia Mischief wins the Dream Supreme Stake by five lengths at Churchill Downs

Bill and Corinne Heiligbrodt, Heider Family Stables, and Madaket Stables' Mia Mischief, who is entered to sell at The November Sale at Fasig-Tipton, dominated the $121,680 Dream Supreme Stakes by five lengths Nov. 1 at Churchill Downs.

The grade 1 winner will be offered as a racing or broodmare prospect at the Nov. 5 breeding stock sale. She'll be consigned as Hip 150 with ELiTE, agent.

Mia Mischief was ridden by Julien Leparoux in Friday's six-furlong sprint for fillies and mares. The 4-year-old daughter of Into Mischief  broke sharply but was relegated just off the pace of dueling leaders Skamania and Shanghai Tariff through a contentious opening quarter-mile in :22.02. At the top of the lane, Leparoux tipped Mia Mischief to the outside and abruptly took command of the race. The filly crossed the wire as the heavy 4-5 favorite in a final time of 1:09.50 on a fast main track.

"She ran extremely well today," Leparoux said. "She was well in hand the entire race and just did everything as easy as possible."

Trainer Steve Asmussen, who is based at Churchill Downs, was at Santa Anita Park for the Breeders' Cup World Championships.

Meadow Dance, the 2-1 second choice, rallied for second while 40-1 shot Pretty Greeley got up for third. Pace-setting Shanghai Tariff finished fourth followed by Skamania.

Mia Mischief returned $3.60, $2.60, and $2.10; Meadow Dance paid $3.20 and $2.60; and Pretty Greeley returned $5.

The win improved Mia Mischief's record to 8-6-1 in 19 starts with earnings of $1,083,834. Her biggest victory came in May at Churchill Downs when she took the Humana Distaff Stakes (G1). She returned to win the Roxelana Overnight Stakes over eventual grade 1 winner Covfefe. The Dream Supreme snapped a three-race losing streak for Mia Mischief, who was third last out in the Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes (G2) at Keeneland.

Spendthrift Farm bred the bay filly in Kentucky out of the Speightstown  mare Greer Lynn, a half sister to graded stakes winners Sing Baby Sing and Roll Hennessy Roll, and to listed stakes winners Value Plus and Majorbigtimesheet.

Spendthrift sold Mia Mischief for $135,000 through consignor Vinery Sales at the 2016 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. McKathan Bros. signed the ticket, then pinhooked the filly for $300,000 in 2017 at The Gulfstream Sale, Fasig-Tipton's March 2-year-olds in training sale in Florida, where the Heiligbrodts bought her.

Greer Lynn foaled a full sister to Mia Mischief in 2018 and a half sister by Goldencents  in February. She was bred back to War Front
