Paul and Karen Eggert's Ollie's Candy will remain in training for 2020, according to a Nov. 3 post on Twitter by her trainer, John Sadler. She was slated to be offered through the Taylor Made Sales Agency consignment as a racing or broodmare prospect at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
The 4-year-old Candy Ride filly finished fourth in the Nov. 2 Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1), won by Blue Prize. Ollie's Candy came into the race off a third in the Sept. 29 Zenyatta Stakes (G2), missing second by a neck to Secret Spice, who finished well back Saturday in the Distaff at Santa Anita Park.
Ollie's Candy earned an all-fees-paid berth to the Distaff via a score in the July 28 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes (G1) at Del Mar, where she held Secret Spice at bay by a head.
As a 3-year-old, she began her racing career with three consecutive wins and two seconds, including a runner-up finish in the Del Mar Oaks Presented by The Jockey Club (G1T), under the care of trainer William Morey. Sadler took over the following year. The filly has a record of 4-3-1 from 10 starts and earnings of $576,151.
A homebred for the Eggerts, Ollie's Candy is the first graded stakes winner out of the grade 3-winning Stroll mare Afternoon Stroll. Her dam's two other foals are winners, and the first foal is stakes-placed.
