Apocaliptico wins the Nov. 1 Paddock Stakes at Club Hipico de Santiago

Regularl U.S./Chile shuttler and Ashford Stud sire Lookin At Lucky  was represented by his 50th black-type winner Nov. 1 when his 3-year-old son Apocaliptico won the 1 1/8-mile Paddock Stakes (G3) on the turf by a neck.

The colt bred by Haras Viejo Perro led through most of the race but lost the lead about 300 meters from the wire to the No Nay Never filly Brooke. Under jockey Bernardo León, the colt dug in and recaptured the lead about four strides before the wire.

Apocaliptico is the third and last foal out of the Giant's Causeway mare Pryanaka, a half sister to Argentine grade 1 winner Climay (by Ocean Falls) and two other group-placed winners.

Lookin At Lucky was shuttled six season to Chile from 2012-18 and was the leading sire there during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 racing seasons. 

Out of his 50 black-type winners, 32 won graded/group stakes worldwide. The son of Smart Strike who was the champion 2-year-old colt in 2009 and champion 3-year-old colt in 2010 has been represented by 12 graded stakes winners in the U.S. and Canada and 19 in Chile. His 5-year-old daughter Wow Cat has won grade 1 stakes in the U.S. and Chile. 

Lookin At Lucky will stand for $20,000 next year.
