Gainesway announced Nov. 4 that Empire Maker 's stud fee will remain unchanged at $85,000 for the 2020 breeding season.
The sire of 12 grade 1 winners, 62 stakes winners, and 33 graded winners, Empire Maker is responsible for such headliners as two-time Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) winner, three-time Eclipse Award champion, and six-time grade 1 winner Royal Delta, who earned $4,811,126 and sold for $8.5 million at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
He is also the grandsire of Triple Crown hero American Pharoah , 2016 champion 2-Year-Old male Classic Empire , and 2017 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) winner Always Dreaming .
Empire Maker's first 2-year-old runners of 2019 included Eight Rings, winner of the American Pharoah Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita Park. His progeny at this year's Keeneland September Yearling Sale sold up to $2 million, with his Keeneland September Book 1 average at $475,666. He is also the sire of 3-year-old filly Power Gal, who was bred in Japan and won this year's Selene Stakes (G3) at Woodbine and Martha Washington Stakes at Oaklawn Park.
By the influential stallion Unbridled and out of the El Gran Senor mare Toussaud, Empire Maker is a half brother to grade 1 winners Chester House, Honest Lady, and Chiselling and grade 2 winner Decarchy. Empire Maker boasts progeny earnings of over $109 million.
The stallion began his stud career in Kentucky before moving to Japan in 2010, and returned stateside to stand his first season at Gainesway in 2016.
