Dr Disco wins the 2011 Vodka Stakes at Aqueduct

A son of the beloved, late sire Disco Rico, a fixture among New York's top 15 sires for seven years, will stand at Keane Stud in 2020.

Like Disco Rico, Dr Disco is a homebred stakes winner for owner/breeder Joseph DiRico. Out of multiple stakes winner Dr Margaret (Dr. Blum), he won the Vodka Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack and the Leon Reed Memorial Handicap at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack for DiRico before getting claimed. Dr Disco compiled an 8-7-6 record out of 34 starts and banked $359,507 when DiRico's got him back. Racing from ages 2 to 7, he competed at five different racetracks and earned triple-digit Equibase Speed Ratings in seven races.

"We are thrilled to have such a consistent son of Disco Rico at Keane Stud, where he stood for seven seasons," said Philippe Lasseur, owner and manager of Keane Stud.

Disco Rico was regularly among the top sires in New York from 2008-14, rising up to sixth among the state's leading sires in 2014. He sired 12 black-type winners, including multiple grade 1-placed, grade 2-winning millionaire Disco Partner . The son of Citidancer died due to laminitis in 2014.

Standing for a private fee, Dr Disco has already sired The Dr's Slippers, who is showing promise at 2 with a second and third out of four starts.
