The New York Racing Association canceled the remainder of the Dec. 1 live racing program at Aqueduct Racetrack following the day's fourth race due to a powerful winter storm forecast in the New York City metropolitan area over the next 48 hours.

The National Weather Service, as well as NYRA's independent weather forecasting services, are calling for a mix of snow, sleet, and heavy rain to continue throughout Sunday. As a result, NYRA canceled live racing in the interest of the safety of all participants.

Aqueduct Racetrack will remain open for simulcasting.

Sunday marked the second recent cancellation of the $200,000 Fall Highweight Handicap (G3). The six-furlong feature was originally scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28. It was moved to Dec. 1 when NYRA canceled Thanksgiving Day races the night before because of high winds.

Live racing is scheduled to resume Thursday, Dec. 5, with a nine-race card highlighted by the $100,000 Tepin Stakes. First post is 12:20 p.m. ET.
