Pleasant Acres Stallions' freshman sire Amira's Prince was represented by his first winner Dec. 5 when his son Monkeyoffmyback won his debut by nine lengths at Camarero Race Track in Puerto Rico.
Bred in Kentucky by Erich Brehm, Monkeyoffmyback was bought by CHPR for $5,000 at the Ocala Breeders' Sales' June 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale out of the Mayberry Farm consignment. The colt is now owned by Establo Siloe and trained by Jorge Perez.
Monkeyoffmyback made quick work of his 6 1/2-furlong debut, taking command after the opening half-mile and drawing away to win easily in 1:18.97.
The colt is the first foal out of Garmentos Girl, a winning daughter of Indian Charlie. Garmentos Girl has a yearling by Texas Red and was bred to Texas Red this year. The mare is out of Misgoldy (Miswaki), a half sister to multiple grade 1 winner Formal Gold (Black Tie Affair) and stakes winner Maple Lake (Varick).
Amira's Prince is a multiple grade 2-winning son of Teofilo. He raced from 2 to 5 and won five times out of 15 starts, which included victories in the Mervin H. Muniz Jr. Handicap (G2T) and Mac Diarmida Stakes (G2T). He also placed in the 2014 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap (G1T). He stands at Pleasant Acres for $2,500.
