Gulfstream Park Cancels Morning Training Due to Rains

Description:

Gulfstream Park closed its main track for training and moved horses from low-lying barns Dec. 23 after 12.80 inches of rain fell overnight across the area.

There were no injuries reported to horses, backstretch workers, or customers. The main track was expected to reopen for training Tuesday morning.

Due to the rain, high tides, and a loss of power overnight, some of Gulfstream's older barns were partially flooded. By Monday morning water began to recede and pumps were being used to alleviate the flooding. Horses moved were provided fresh bedding and feed.

Live racing returns to Gulfstream Dec. 26 with a first race post of 12:35 p.m.
