Gulfstream Park closed its main track for training and moved horses from low-lying barns Dec. 23 after 12.8 inches of rain fell overnight across the area.

There were no injuries reported to horses, backstretch workers, or customers. The main track is expected to reopen for training Tuesday morning.

Due to the rain, high tides, and a loss of power overnight, some of Gulfstream's older barns were partially flooded. By Monday morning the water began to recede and pumps were being used to alleviate the flooding. Horses that were moved were provided with fresh bedding and feed.

According to the Weather Channel, a slow moving storm dumped rain throughout the Southeastern part of the state. Hallendale, Fla., where Gulfstream is located, saw major flooding that closed roads. According to Miami news stations, the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport shut down early Monday morning due to parts of the airport being inaccessible.

Live racing returns to Gulfstream Dec. 26 with a first race post of 12:35 p.m.
