Leofric Heads Rockridge Stud's 2020 Roster

Entering-year sire and grade 1 winner Leofric  owns the top fee of $7,500 on Rockridge Stud's 2020 stallion roster, for which the New York farm announced all its fees Jan. 3.

Bred in Kentucky by Peter Blum Thoroughbreds, Leofric is by Candy Ride  out of the unraced Unbridled's Song mare Lady Godiva, a half sister to multiple graded stakes winner Multiple Choice (Mt. Livermore) and stakes-placed multiple stakes producer Proposal (Mt. Livermore).

Leofric won or placed in five graded stakes while racing for Steve Landers Racing and trainer Brad Cox. His best performances were victories in the Clark Handicap Presented by Norton Healthcare (G1), Hagyard Fayette Stakes (G2), and West Virginia Governor's Stakes (G3). He was retired with eight wins from 14 starts and earned $951,040.

"Candy Rides, especially in New York, do very well," said Lere Visagie, the owner/manager of Rockridge. "He fits the mare population, and he's an attractive horse that people will like when they see him."

Also new to the roster is multiple graded stakes winner and millionaire Disco Partner , whose fee has been set at $5,000.

Patricia Generazio's 8-year-old homebred, a New York-bred son of Disco Rico, won consecutive editions of the Jaipur Invitational Stakes (grade 2 on turf in 2018, grade 3 on turf in 2017) and during those same years repeated in the Belmont Turf Sprint Invitational Stakes.

Disco Partner is out of the winning Numerous mare Lulu's Number, whose female family has been nurtured by Generazio for three generations. The only black-type winner produced by Lulu's Number, Disco Partner was retired with 11 wins from 33 starts and $1,487,560 in earnings.

A stallion show and open house will be held Jan. 25 from noon- 2 p.m.  A lunch buffet will be served and drawings will be held for free seasons to each stallion.
