Girvin covered 149 mares in 2019, his first year at Ocala Stud

Ocala Stud's Girvin  sired his first reported foal when a Florida-bred filly out of the stakes-placed D'wildcat mare C d'Cat was delivered Jan. 4 at 1:55 a.m. The filly was bred by Grand Oaks' Brad and Misty Grady and Mary Ellen Coenen.

Girvin, by Tale of Ekati Catch the Moon, by Malibu Moon , was campaigned by Brad Grady throughout his career with trainer Joe Sharp. He won or placed in five of eight graded stakes starts, including victories in the 2017 betfair.com Haskell Invitational (G1), Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby (G2), and Risen Star Stakes (G2), earning $1,624,392 in his racing career.

Florida's most active stallion of 2019, Girvin covered 149 mares in his first book a year ago. The 6-year-old stallion's 2020 fee remains unchanged at $7,500.

Girvin was bred in Kentucky by Bob Austin and John White. Grand Oaks purchased Girvin for $130,000 from Legacy Bloodstock's consignment to Fasig-Tipton's 2015 October Yearling Sale. The horse is a half brother to grade 3 winner Cocked and Loaded and grade 3-placed Pirate's Punch. His 2-year-old half brother, a Tiznow  colt bred in Kentucky by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, was purchased for $525,000 by Winchell Thoroughbreds from Warrendale Sales' consignment to the 2019 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

The filly born Jan. 4 is the third foal out of C d'Cat. The mare also has a 2-year-old Street Boss  filly and a Dominus  yearling filly. Both were bred in Florida by the Gradys and Coenen.
