A 6-year-old daughter of Tapit out of the Unbridled's Song mare Unrivaled Belle, Unique Bella was retired from racing in the summer of 2018 due to an ankle injury. A popular racehorse with fans who loved her gray color and blazing speed, she won nine of 12 races and more than $1.27 million for Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. She won eight graded stakes, three grade 1s.
Although she finished seventh as the favorite in the 2017 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint at Del Mar in 2017, the towering mare was voted champion female sprinter of that year. She rebounded to win the La Brea Stakes (G1) to conclude her 3-year-old season that also saw her capture the the Santa Ynez Stakes (G2), Las Virgenes Stakes (G2), Santa Ysabel Stakes (G3), and L.A. Woman Stakes (G3).
She raced four times at 4 in 2018 and was voted the champion older dirt female, winning the Santa Maria Stakes (G2), Beholder Mile Stakes (G1), and Clement L. Hirsch Stakes (G1) and running second in the Apple Blossom Handicap (G1) after a poor start.
Medaglia d'Oro, a 21-year-old son of El Prado, was the seventh-leading general sire in North American in 2019, led by $1 million TVG Pacific Classic (G1) winner Higher Power. He stands this year at Darley near Lexington for $200,000.
