BloodHorse on Jan. 16 announced the promotion of Evan Hammonds to editorial director, Scott Carling to general manager, and Claire Crosby to managing editor.

These moves were made following the departure of John Keitt Jr. as CEO of BloodHorse to take a senior position with the Breeders' Cup.

"Evan, Scott, and Claire have the skills, leadership qualities, and industry knowledge to ensure the BloodHorse remains successful," BloodHorse chairman Carl Hamilton said. "We have a very talented team at BloodHorse, and we look forward to the continued growth of the BloodHorse's print and digital products and services."

Hammonds joined BloodHorse as managing editor in 1998. As editorial director, he will establish editorial direction for BloodHorse publications, including the magazine, BloodHorse Daily, and website. Hammonds worked for BloodHorse as the advertising production manager from 1982-87. He spent the ensuing years working for other publications, including Macmillan Book Clubs and FIGS Form, which was a precursor to Racing Times. From 1989-98, he was a page editor for Daily Racing Form.

In his role as general manager, Carling will manage sales and marketing, circulation, technology, customer service, and budgeting. He joined BloodHorse in 2016 as director of sales and business development. Carling has been involved with the advertising and marketing of equestrian-related organizations since 1996, when he was classified advertising sales manager for Thoroughbred Times. From 1998-2015, he worked for the United States Equestrian Federation, where he started as director of advertising for Equestrian Magazine before becoming the assistant executive director of marketing and then managing director of sales and sponsorship.
