Timber Town Stable announced on Twitter Jan. 27 that Songbird had delivered her second foal, a filly by Tapit , the day prior.
"Both mare and foal are doing well, and Songbird is again showing us what a lovely mother she is," the tweet read in part.
Songbird gave birth to her first foal, a filly by Arrogate , in 2019.
The 7-year-old Medaglia d'Oro mare out of Ivanavinalot, by West Acre, was a $9.5 million purchase by Mandy Pope's Whisper Hill Farm from the Taylor Made Sales Agency consignment at The November Sale, Fasig-Tipton's premier breeding stock sale in Lexington, Ky., in 2017.
Campaigned by Rick Porter's Fox Hill Farm and trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, Songbird earned over $4.6 million and was named champion 2-year-old filly and champion 3-year-old filly. She won 13 times and was twice second. Nine of those victories were at the grade 1 level: the Del Mare Debutante, Chandelier Stakes, and 14 Hands Winery Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies at 2; the Santa Anita Oaks, Coaching Club American Oaks, Alabama Stakes, and Cotillion Stakes at 3; and the Ogden Phipps Stakes and Delaware Handicap at 4.
Songbird was bred in Kentucky by John Antonelli. Fox Hill Farm purchased her for $400,000 from Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency at The Saratoga Sale, Fasig-Tipton's select yearling sale in New York, in 2014.
