Three Chimneys Farm announced Jan. 22 that grade 1 winner Funtastic 's first foal arrived Jan. 20 at 11:30 p.m. at Nuckols Farm in Midway, Ky. The filly is out of the Elusive Quality mare Tenshi, who is a half sister to graded stakes winner Something Ventured. There are nearly 30 stakes performers within the first three dams.
"We are extremely excited about the arrival of Funtastic's first foal crop. Funtastic himself is very good looking, and was a highly talented athlete by dominant sire More Than Ready ," said Tom Hamm, director of stallion seasons at Three Chimneys. "That, coupled with his regal pedigree, has all of us excited about the arrival of his first foals."
Out of the Quiet American mare Quiet Dance, Funtastic is a half brother to Horse of the Year Saint Liam as well as to Quiet Giant, the dam of Horse of the Year Gun Runner . His other half siblings include grade 3 winner Congressionalhonor, stakes winner Dance Quietly, grade 1-placed Miss Besilu, grade 2-placed American Dance, and Quiet Now, the dam of multiple grade 3 turf winner Lull.
Funtastic was on the board seven times in 11 starts, including a victory in the United Nations Handicap (G1T) at Monmouth Park. From a 4-2-1 record he earned $410,711. He stands his second season at Three Chimneys for $5,000.
