Confessional, an eight-time stakes winner who captured the Frizette Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park as a 2-year-old in 1998, has died from infirmities of old age, owner Pin Oak Farm announced Feb. 6 in a social media post.
"Bred, raised, and raced by Pin Oak and from the first crop of champion Holy Bull, Confessional was truly the kind of horse dreams are made of," the farm began in a series of tweets. "She carried the Pin Oak silks to the winner's circle in 12 races, including the grade 1 Frizette Stakes under the guidance of Bill Mott and Jerry Bailey, and won all but one of her final 10 starts, including seven stakes races and a course record-equaling performance at Keeneland at ages 4 and 5 for Graham Motion with Ramon Dominguez aboard. She concluded her racing career in '01 with earnings of $827,638.
"We welcomed our heroine back to the farm that fall to begin the next phase of her life and she took to her new career like a duck to water. As a broodmare, she was the dam of four stakes horses, including stakes winner and graded stakes performer Ready to Confess. Rest in peace, beautiful girl, and thank you for shining your light on us all."

Out of the Green Dancer mare Whisper Who Dares, Confessional was related to stakes winner Gossip. Confessional produced seven winners, led by Ready to Confess, winner of the She's All In Stakes at Remington Park in 2017, a year after she was second in the Iowa Oaks (G3) at Prairie Meadows in 2016.
