Woodbine Entertainment has released an updated stakes schedule for the 2020 Woodbine Thoroughbred meet with dates adjusted for a handful of early and late-season events.

Woodbine's Thoroughbred racing season will begin April 18, and opening day will now feature the Star Shoot Stakes and Woodstock Stakes. The Fury Stakes and Queenston Stakes have also been moved up on the schedule to May 2. In addition, the dates for the Selene Stakes (G3) and Marine Stakes (G3) have been shifted to May 16 to better position them as preps for the June 27 Queen's Plate—Canada's most prestigious race for horses bred in the country.

Changes have also been made to the dates of the following stakes scheduled toward the end of the season: the South Ocean Stakes (Nov. 14), Frost King Stakes (Nov. 15), grade 3 Mazarine Stakes (Nov. 22), grade 3 Grey Stakes (Nov. 22), La Prevoyante Stakes (Dec. 2), Steady Growth Stakes (Dec. 2), Ballade Stakes (Dec. 12), and Ontario Jockey Club Stakes (Dec. 12).

The 2020 season will begin with live Thoroughbred racing weekends in late April. The racing schedule will expand in May with the addition of Fridays then Wednesday nights or afternoon racing on holiday Mondays. In total, Woodbine will host 133 race dates and 87 stakes events through Dec. 13.

The full stakes schedule can be viewed on Woodbine's website.
