Description:

Los Gatos, CA (October 17, 2013) – CANTER California is excited to announce its third annual online auction to raise money to support its Thoroughbred racehorse aftercare program.
From October 25 – November 4th, CANTER’s online auction will have racing memorabilia, tack and gift items available for sale through Mission Fish on eBay. The auction can be found at: http://givingworks.ebay.com/charity-auctions/charity/canter-california/3.... The funds raised from this auction will be used for veterinary care, feed and boarding expenses for off-track Thoroughbreds in the adoption program.
“This auction is a great example of how people can come together to support ex-racehorses. Every donation adds up and makes a difference for these horses. Even a $15 item covers grain for one horse for a month” said CANTER California Executive Director, Ali Dacher.
CANTER invites anyone who wants to participate in this auction to donate or collect items to be listed for sale. Participating is simple: anyone can list an item on eBay and donate by selecting CANTER California through EBay Giving Works. CANTER volunteers are also available to receive donated items and list them for sale by contacting us at canterca@canterusa.org. Items available for auction include: halters worn by Blame, Paynter and Game On Dude, Ice Horse boots, Warriors tickets, tack, OTTB couture, handmade jewelry and more.
CANTER California has successfully transitioned over 400 horses through its adoption program and online trainer listings since its incorporation in 2008. Our CANTER graduates have gone on to excel in the show ring as well as on the trails and as pleasure horses. Through the development of a network of trainers and boarding facilities, horses are now placed in temporary care with CANTER until a new, approved home is found. CANTER assumes financial responsibility for each horse including board, feed, farrier, dental and vet care. Once a horse enters the CANTER program, our knowledgeable volunteers, professional trainers, farriers and veterinary staff evaluate each horse to ensure that it has the health, soundness, training and skills needed to successfully transition to life off the racetrack. When CANTER horses are ready for adoption, they leave our care with a solid foundation for the next rewarding phase of their lives.
