Sackatoga Stable's Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) hopeful Tiz the Law resumed his regular work schedule March 2 at Palm Meadows Training Center, turning in a half-mile in :50 on a fast dirt course.

The New York-bred Constitution  colt, who won the Feb. 1 Holy Bull Stakes (G3) by three lengths, missed a workout with a minor foot bruise, but remains on track for the March 28 Curlin Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream Park.

"He did exactly what we were looking for—nice four-furlong breeze, :50 flat, galloped out (to five furlongs) in a minute and two (seconds)," said Jack Knowlton, the managing partner of Sackatoga Stable who was on hand for Monday's work. "Manny Franco was down for the ride and we were very happy with the way he did his breeze. He came out of it very well afterward so we're on track to do probably another breeze next Sunday or Monday, five furlongs, and then two follow-up five-furlong breezes. Be ready to go in the Florida Derby."

Monday's breeze was the second for Tiz the Law since the Holy Bull. He turned in another :50 half-mile for trainer Barclay Tagg Feb. 10 before the foot bruise.

"It was a minor thing and that was a week and a half or so ago. He's been back on the track galloping the last few days. It was just a very minor bump in the road. If you're going to have a bump, that was a good time to have it," Knowlton said. "We had plenty of time to do what we want to do. We'll get four breezes into him. It's not that he needs them from a fitness standpoint, he's plenty fit, has stayed fit, but we were happy with him today. Manny was real happy with him and we'll probably be looking for a little more speed the next time, but today was exactly what Barclay and (assistant) Robin (Smullen) were looking for."

Tiz the Law, also winner of the Champagne Stakes (G1) as a juvenile, is currently fifth on the Road to the Kentucky Derby leaderboard with 22 points. The Florida Derby will offer points on a 100-40-20-10 scale to the top four finishers.
