Search For A Song wins the Irish St. Leger at the Curragh

Moyglare Stud's Comer Group International Irish St. Leger (G1) heroine Search For A Song remains in training this season, according to a report from Fiona Craig, Moyglare's bloodstock and breeding adviser.

The homebred Galileo filly was the only 3-year-old in the line-up and became the first filly of her age to win the St. Leger in 30 years when she defeated a field of older male rivals at the Curragh in September. She left the likes of Kew Gardens, Cross Counter, and Latrobe in arrears.

"She's great," said Craig. "She's been training all winter just doing long, steady canters and stayed down at Dermot Weld's Rosewell House, where a very good lad, Paddy McLoughlin, rides her.

"She's happy, has done very well, and we'll just have to wait for decent ground—she's never going to be a filly who races on heavy ground.

"So far, they're just coming up with ideas about where to start her off and which races to target. I don't think you'll see her over two miles; I think she's going to come back in trip. She'll probably start off in Ireland and we'll see where she takes us."

Out of the Danehill mare Polished Gem, Search For A Song broke her maiden easily May 30 going 10 furlongs at Fairyhouse, then was second in the June 26 Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F Naas Oaks Trial. Fourth in the July 20 Kerrygold Irish Oaks (G1), she won the Aug. 22 British E.B.F. & Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes at York before she stepped up to give Weld his eighth St. Leger victory in her final start of the year.
