Tickets for the 2020 Breeders' Cup World Championships Nov. 6-7 at Keeneland will go on sale March 9, and based on its inaugural event in Lexington Breeders' Cup officials have prepared for high demand.
Those officials also wanted to remind fans, that based on that previous interest level, it figures to be necessary to act sooner rather than later. For one thing, like 2015, there will be no tickets sold on the days of the event. All tickets, even general admission, have to be purchased ahead of time.
To purchase tickets for 2020, fans are asked to visit BreedersCup.com, where tickets will be available for purchase. Breeders' Cup has purchased new software that aims to expedite the process while also allowing fans to choose specific seats. The tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. Monday.
"The best way to purchase tickets is to go to BreedersCup.com," said Breeders' Cup CEO Drew Fleming. "We anticipate a significant demand based on the success of Keeneland in 2015. The easiest way for patrons to purchase tickets will be to go to the website."
Fleming said there will be a queue on the website that will place patrons in order while keeping the site from freezing up while ticket orders are processed. Tickets will not be available for purchase at Keeneland's website Monday; all patrons are being directed to BreedersCup.com.
"Expect to wait some but there is a process that will allow people to purchase tickets there," Fleming said. "We've developed a software that will sufficiently move people through the queue."
Seating options include general admission, reserved seats, and box seats, as well as a number of unique experiences thanks to a $10 million investment in structures and renovations. Those ticket options will make full use of Keeneland's property—including the Keene Barn/entertainment center and sales pavilion among other locations—and, like 2015, will offer options in chalet-style options.
Attendance will be capped at 45,000 for both the Friday and Saturday cards. Patrons also will have the option to select park-and-ride shuttles to and from Keeneland that will be based on Richmond Road and Harrodsburg Road.
