The 1/50th share in leading French sire Le Havre offered online by Arqana March 11 went the way of a winning bid to the tune of €300,000 (US$340,503).
Having started at 11 a.m. local time, the sale generated a total of 10 bids between five different bidders.
Montfort et Préaux, acting as agent for an as-yet unknown client, had the final say at 6:17 p.m. following "extra-time."
At a very simple arithmetic level, a 1/50th share in a stallion that goes for €300,000 values him at €15 million.
Standing at Montfort et Préaux, Le Havre has supplied 57 stakes performers since retiring to stud, including dual classic winners La Cressonniere and Avenir Certain.
Also among 34 stakes winners are two other top-flight scorers in Suedois and Villa Marina.
He has a total of 16 3-year-olds entered in this year's classics, including the unbeaten Port Guillaume and Another Sky.
The 14-year-old is standing at a fee of €50,000 this year, having stood his first season at stud in 2010 for €5,000.
In 2019, 51 yearlings by Le Havre were sold at auction for an average of €118,844 and a high of €960,000.
