The horses Gary and Mary West had with trainer Jason Servis are heading to new conditioners and different parts of the country.
Servis, who was indicted in federal court March 9 on charges related to his alleged role in the administering of performance-enhancing drugs to the horses under his care, campaigned the Wests' horses in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
A total of 12 horses will be moving to the barns of trainers Bret Calhoun, Wayne Catalano, and Phil D'Amato, who work primarily in the South, Midwest, Kentucky, and California.
D'Amato's contingent includes grade 2-placed Restoring Hope, who was eighth in the 2018 Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G1) for trainer Bob Baffert. In that same year, the homebred son of Giant's Causeway was third in the Wood Memorial Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G2). Restoring Hope was sent to Servis for a 2019 season that featured a win and one second in three starts.
D'Amato will add grade 3-placed Lasting Legacy as well as Intimidation, Miss Bling Bling, and Power Player.
Calhoun will get Day Trip, Epic West, Higher Authority, and All Eyes West, who will be sent to Dell Ridge Farm in Kentucky before being shipped to his new barn.
Catalano's group consists of Wandering West, Wild Weekend, and Magic Carpet.
The Wests' stable also includes Maximum Security, the champion 3-year-old male of 2019 and the winner of the $20 million Saudi Cup. The homebred son of New Year's Day will join Bob Baffert's barn after a stint at Dell Ridge. The Wests own the multiple grade 1 winner and earner of $11,801,900 in a partnership with Coolmore's Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor, and Derrick Smith.
As of March 11, regulators had not decided when the horses trained by Servis and Jorge Navarro, who also was indicted Monday, will be allowed to race again.
Baffert also handles the Wests' other champion in training, Game Winner, who was named the top 2-year-old male in 2018. He is working toward his first start since a win in the July 13 Los Alamitos Derby (G3) for the California-based Hall of Fame trainer.
