Yoshida Acquires American Pharoah Filly for $650,000

Description:

A speedy daughter of 2019 leading first-crop sire American Pharoah  was purchased by Katsumi Yoshida for $650,000 to take the lead during the Ocala Breeders' Sales March Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training's first session March 17.

Cataloged by Ciaran Dunne's Wavertree Stables, agent, as Hip 237, the bay miss had zipped a quarter-mile in :20 2/5 to best the March 13 second under tack show workout.

The filly was bred in Kentucky by Zayat Stables, which also bred and raced American Pharoah to Triple Crown success. The filly was produced from the winning Songandaprayer mare Megalicious, a half sister to multiple stakes winner Abbondanza.

A half sister to multiple stakes-placed My Sweet Stella and from the same family as the dam of Iowa Breeders' Oaks winner Snapy Gal, the filly was purchased for $165,000 in the name of Windfield Bloodstock from the VanMeter-Gentry Sales consignment at last year's Keeneland September Yearling Sale. The bay filly was bought initially by Renee Dailey for $70,000 from Lane's End at the 2018 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
