Intello Retired to Cheveley Park Stud

Wertheimer Et Frere has confirmed that Intello, its leading French-trained colt and Prix du Jockey Club (Fr-I) winner, will take up stallion duties at Cheveley Park Stud for the 2014 and 2015 breeding seasons, and then at the Haras du Quesnay for the two following years.

Intello's fee has been set at £25,000 payable Oct. 1, with live foal free return terms. Details for viewing will be given at a later date.

"We are delighted to be standing such a talented racehorse as Intello, who complements and expands the portfolio of outstanding stallions currently standing at Cheveley Park Stud," Cheveley managing director Chris Richardson said in a release. "An arrangement between three world-class breeding operations brings together the opportunity for European breeders to benefit from this new and very exciting initiative."

Undefeated in two starts last year, Intello has proved to be among the top European 3-year-old colts this year. He finished third in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains (Fr-I) and then won the Prix du Jockey Club (Fr-I) by two lengths. The performance established him as the highest-rated colt trained in France in 2013.

In his next start Intello displayed his speed and versatility by taking the one-mile Prix Messidor (Fr-III), and then finished third in the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard Jacques le Marois (Fr.-I). In his final race he finished third in the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I) behind Treve, and ahead of Al Kazeem and Ruler Of The World.

Intello is by Galileo out of the group II-winning and group I-placed Danehill mare Impressionnante.
