Three Diamonds Farm's Chimney Rock, runner-up in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G2T), was named the 2019 Louisiana Horse of the Year, the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association announced April 11.

The son of Artie Schiller—What's Your Point, by Wheaton, broke his maiden Sept. 1 as a 2-year-old at Saratoga Race Course and ran second, beaten a head, six days later in the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Turf Sprint Stakes at Kentucky Downs. He scored another runner-up finish in the Indian Summer Stakes at Keeneland, where he was beaten by a half-length, before missing Four Wheel Drive by three-quarters of a length in the Breeders' Cup at Santa Anita Park.

Trained by Mike Maker, Chimney Rock wrapped up 2019 on the main track at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, where he drew off to win the Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile Stakes by 6 1/2 lengths.

From seven starts in 2019, the bay colt collected a 2-3-1 record and earnings of $369,025, the highest of any Louisiana-bred runner last year. Chimney Rock was also named the 2019 2-year-old accredited Louisiana-bred colt or gelding champion.

Winners were to be announced originally at the LTBA Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet planned for Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby (G2) weekend at Fair Grounds. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the LTBA board of directors made the decision to forgo the event this year.
